Jessica recalls the trip down to OBX

In her own words ....

"Well I don't remember much ...." she says, however she just went off about several details of the funny things that happen when families travel.  She says they are "irritating" ... but she says that with a smirk.  They might be irritating then, but funny later, I explain.  Here is a list:

1) Eric likes to sing in the car.  It drives the rest of them crazy.  We have a continual battle -- on one hand, I explain that we need to be giving and loving to others, considering their desires before our own.  In other words:  If Eric wants to sing, let him sing and put down your own interest for him.  On the other hand, Eric also needs to learn to be considerate of others and not sing intentionally to irritate them.  BOTH sides needs to not think of themselves.  There is the lesson for the day.

2) When we stopped at Sonic for lunch ... guess who showed up in the parking lot right behind us?  Uncle Mark & Aunt Amy, Memaw & Bodie!  They had lunch at IHOP though.

3) We were texting Aunt Di on the way down as well -- sharing news about our overpacked vans.

4) Once we got to Corolla -- we found the realty building and Eric kept questioning why Daddy was going in there.  "Jinx!"  Jessica & Susannah said -- they both had proclaimed "He's going to get the key for the (beach) house!"  at the same time.
This blogging thing is new to me.  Here are some pictures that I meant to post with the last entry ... Boo & Daddy on the early morning walk ...

Thanksgiving in OBX - 2012

Sometime back Doogie and I decided it would be fun one year to celebrate Thanksgiving at the beach, having made numerous trips to OBX in November for the Half Marathon here.  The weather is beautiful - the beach cottage is cozy in the cool ocean wind and it is naturally way less crowded.  A great deal on an ocean front beach house came up and we decided to take advantage of it.

The roster for this trip:  The 6 of us, mom, LaNetta, Amy, Mark & Bodie.

We arrive on Saturday, Nov 17 ... to 30mph winds.  Yes not what I expected exactly.  But the house is very nice.  Andrew & Dianna White are actually here this week as well, enjoying a week at the SeaLove cottage.  We expect to get together with them sometime during this week.

The day started with coffee, a walk on the beach and some sea shell seaching.
