The chinchilla!

Learned a lot about these guys ...apparently pretty cool pets but they do take some more care. This guy was cute jumping all over the cage.

He's proud of himself

.

Last day of school continued

We had the tradition of the 5th grade walkout where the kids all clap and all the moms cry setting their babies are going to middle school.
Then we took a quick detour to target because Jessica's flip flop had a blue out....and now we are at....the dreaded place for all parents....

Last week of school: Day 4 D-Day

Everyone was in a good mood this morning naturally.  Gabe was telling me last night he was a little sad and excited at the same time.

Well, nothing special for Jessica -- she still sees her work looming before her, but math will be slowing down. Basically we've already gone farther than where she'd start in the fall; but Jeannie suggested we continue to work during the summer to keep it fresh in her mind.  So I'm scaling it back to maybe 1-2 lessons a week.  English we will have a ways to go ... but I'm trying to be relaxed about it and we're going to learn to sew this summer which she is very excited about.

Last day of elementary school for Gabe.
Susannah is happy about being a safety patroller.  Think she's on the flag detail.

I actually caught a picture of him smiling.

I allow them to wear flip flops on the last day -- school dress code says no flops but I allow them the last day.  It's funny how something like they is such a big deal.  They talk about it for a week in advance getting to wear flip flops.

Jessica showing off that she gets to wear slippers anytime she wants.

More last day of school shenanigans coming later ....

Another tooth BITES the dust

Last week of school: day 1

We had a long hot day. IEP meeting went well as I mentioned. It's funny to hear other people who really get your kuds tell stories.   Field Day for Gabe and Susannah. ... Hot and disgusting.  After that I had to rush home and get the routines ready that I was going to lead dry land.  So we get to the pool and a we had barely been there when a kid threw up in the pool and everyone had to get our for 35 minutes. So I only had to e run 1 dryland session.

So we are still here. Pictures are of Susannah with an ice pack (headache) probably from the heat and running around all day.

The picture of the yellow car was from Gabe.  He thought it looked like ir had a face.  Susannah says it's Luigi.

Williamsburg and crazy stuff

So we drove to Williamsburg and went for a long ride around Jamestown and into Yorktown.  Then we saw something crazy .... just look!

They said it was "traveling the old way" I crossed the creek on foot and fell backwards on my backside!

The ride on the Colonial Parkway out to Yorktown
This is me and General Washington having a discussion about the Revolutionary War in Yorktown.
Yes a man was actually walking his pet iguana in Williamsburg!  Can you imagine seeing that thing looking through the window at you as you ate dinner?

Williamsburg!

So we're here at the hotel and now sitting by the pool!
Here are some pictures of the room and the pool we are headed out for a ride on Tex.

Look what was hanging around the BBQ stand in Corolla Village

I didn't think chickens like BBQ? Daddy said it was pretty bold of those chickens to hang out there considerng they may be the main course one day.
